A lifelong daughter of the Virgin Islands, Lisa J. Charles has spent nearly three decades as a dedicated public servant, educator, and community advocate. As a mother, Licensed Massage Therapist, and woman of faith, her life’s work is rooted in a profound commitment to her neighbors. Her extensive career has spanned healthcare, human services, and wellness, providing her with a unique perspective on the hurdles our families face. By working directly with children, caregivers, and seniors, Lisa has seen firsthand how essential it is for government to truly serve its people.

 

Lisa began her professional path in the classroom as an Alternative Education Teacher before transitioning into critical roles within the Virgin Islands Medicaid Program, where she oversaw eligibility and quality assurance. Currently, she serves as the Assistant Director of the Homemaker Services Program under Senior Citizens Affairs. In this role, she works tirelessly to ensure our seniors can age with dignity, independence, and the high quality of life they deserve. Her passion for holistic health also led her to become a Licensed Massage Therapist, a role that informs her belief in the importance of preventative care and treating the whole person.

 

Lisa’s academic foundation includes a Bachelor’s in Office Management from Atlantic Union College, an MBA in Healthcare Management from the University of Phoenix, and an official designation as a Certified Public Manager from the University of the Virgin Islands. However, Lisa believes true success is not found in credentials, but in the lives she has touched. From mentoring youth to guiding families through government systems, she knows that effective leadership begins with active listening and a compassionate heart.

 

Her political journey is an extension of this lifelong devotion. Following a 2024 independent run for the Legislature that deepened her connection to the St. Croix community, Lisa joined the Democratic Primary in 2026. Now a Democratic nominee for the 37th Legislature, she remains guided by a core philosophy: People Over Party. She believes that the best solutions come from collaboration and common ground, regardless of political affiliation.

 

Beyond her professional duties, Lisa remains a constant figure in local outreach, driven by the simple belief that we must help others whenever we have the capacity to do so. As a mother, she is focused on creating a territory where the next generation can thrive, ensuring our youth have the resources to build successful careers and businesses right here at home.
